Stone Wins a Category Prize from Memoir Magazine
Stone's unpublished manuscript, Just Another Native Son, was announced as Memoir Magazine's winner of the 2025 Memoir Prize for the category "Racial Reckoning, Identity, Culture." Memoir Magazine publishes memoirs, narrative creative nonfiction, personal essays, and more. Memoir, Narrative Creative Nonfiction, Personal Essays, Own stories, and more.

Stone Earns an Honorable Mention from Craft Literary’s 2024 Contest.
Stone earned an honorable mention from Craft Literary's 2024 Memoir Excerpt and Essay Contest for his personal essay: Requiem for American Boys. Founded in 2017, Craft Literary publishes both fiction and creative nonfiction pieces.

NEA Big Read: Middle Grade Book Discussion of The People Could Fly with Stone Mims
Stone leads a reading and discussion on June 18th, 2022 at the "Center for Fiction." This workshop included a reading of short stories from Virginia Hamilton’s The People Could Fly. Stone led discussions revolving around selected pieces from the collection.

Stone is Selected as a WriteOn NYC Fellow
WriteOn NYC aims to prepare MFA creative writing candidates for careers in teaching and non-profit work as they work as writing teachers to middle and high school students. Through this program, literature is made more accessible to students, both as readers and writers, and MFA students acquire invaluable experience in real teaching environments.
