STONE

Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Stone (S.M. Erickson) is a writer who explores the Black experience through speculative writing. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bard College at Simon’s Rock with concentrations in English Literature and Creative Writing and went on to attain his MFA in Creative Writing at The New School with concentrations in Fiction and Writing for Children and Young Adults. He has worked as a literary journalist at Rolling Out Magazine and has taught creative writing to middle school students at The Center for Fiction and The George Jackson Academy.

 

He is currently an instructor of English Literature and Humanities at Interlochen Arts Academy where he teaches courses on African-American Literature and Literary Reinvention. His hobbies include soccer, reading, video games, and self-deprecation. His favorite writers include James Baldwin, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Octavia Butler, N.K. Jemisin, and Rick Riordan.
